From the primary clay, wooden and stone of the initial natural materials, to the artificial materials of bronze, ceramic and other metal and alloy, all these materials have strong design ability, lightweight and relatively cheap in cost, soon applied to the art sculpture industry. Later, the application of FRP technology develops quickly and realistically. All kinds of sculptures are refined from different materials with own characteristics and features, being suitable for different urban scenes. These materials have no pollution with great elasticity, easy for shaping the models, exquisitely made in the perspective of depiction, enriching the details of the subject, and highlight the subject we want to shape.

Metal material. Metal sculptures are widely applied partially because of their unique texture. Metal sculpture material can be subdivided into stainless steel (commonly used are 304 and 201 according to the demand), iron, aluminum, lead, copper (commonly used are bronze, brass, red copper) and other materials. And stainless steel has been widely used in the sculpture whether indoor small stainless steel city sculpture, or outdoor large sculpture. Stainless steel material has good ductility with various surface effects. Iron is not resistant to acid and alkali, easy to corrosion, so iron is seldom used for outdoors. Aluminum and lead are lacking in the hardness of metals, only used in small sculptures, but their texture is very distinctive.

FRP material is also referred to as composite materials featuring high resistance, plasticity, high strength, great choices to realize the effect and the cost is greatly reduced compared with metal sculpture. They are usually colorful sculptures.

Wood is one of the sculptors' favorite sculpture materials. Many kinds of wood can be used for sculptures, as long as the wood is not easily cracked, deformed.

The fourth category is custom stone carving material. The most common is the white marble, which is white and delicate, the most commonly used material in the sculpture of stone works.
