To exert the true value of your stainless steel statue, it is far from enough to rely on the metal sculpture itself. There are many reasons for a art sculpture being popular and successful to the people’ satisfaction, including the design, manufacturing technology, manufacturing techniques and other aspects of elements to find creative and new things and better inherit the tradition. Here we figure out the welding details during the fabricating.
During the whole electric welding process, there are many aspects to pay attention to. Generally speaking, there are two kinds of stainless steel electrode: titanium calcium type and low hydrogen type. The welding wires of titanium calcium core are only suitable for flat welding, not for all position welding; while the welding wires of low hydrogen can do all position welding. The current flow of electric welding should be DC voltage to get rid of the welding wire redness and melting density.
Keep the modern sculptures materials, the stainless steel electrodes dry so as to prevent cracks, dents, vent holes and other faults. The titanium calcium core should be dried at 150-250℃ for 1 hour before used for welding, and low hydrogen core dried at 200-300℃ for 1 hour. Do not repeat the drying, otherwise the crust may fall off.
Keep the welding joints clean and tidy, avoid the stained oil or dirt so as to prevent carbon content and endangering the welding quality
To avoid corrosion caused by heating, welding electric flow should be generally 20% lower than carbon steel electrode.
Try to choose short arc for welding , long electricity arc may cause thermal cracks, string length is generally 2 to 2 mm.
Carefully choosing welding wires of different metal materials for custom bronze sculpture or Corten steel sculpture, to avoid causing hot cracks or high temperature quality aging of the metal material. According to the welding wire specification of different steel, workers adopt corresponded welding method.
