There are many reasons for people commissioning custom bronze sculpture, perhaps for unique and personal tribute to memorize the beloved ones, or record a special event in special public site, and for bronze sculpture decoration outdoors. Whatever the reason, commissioning a custom-made bronze sculpture is very special. It means that you have entrusted an artist with the task of capturing your unique vision and bringing it to life in metal into portraits, abstract statues artworks.
The process of creating bronze sculptures are arduous, but the end result is always worth the time. First, the designer and client must formulate a primary idea for a sculpture and do a preliminary sketch. Once complete, the sculptor will create a maquette or small-scale model for their reference. This allows them to make necessary changes before starting the final project.
Next, the sculptor must create a clay model of the sculpture. This is where they really start to bring the idea to life. They must carefully mold and shape the clay with details until they are happy with the results. This step can take weeks, or even months and years depending on the complexity of the sculpture.
Once the clay model is finished, it is sent to a foundry where it is cast in bronze. This process takes several weeks, as the bronze must be poured into sand cast shells and allowed to cool slowly. Once the figure carving is poured in bronze, the shell is knocked away to reveal the artwork. The sculpture must now be welded, metal chased (taking down the welds), cleaned by sandblasting the bronze, and polished before it is shipped to its new home.
