When customers aim to make a quote for customized sculpture, there are many choices of sculpture materials according to the different using scenarios and sizes. Let us have a detailed understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of FRP sculpture materials.
Advantages of FRP sculptures
1, FRP materials can be fabricated into various styling with good integrity. FRP sculpture is rich in colors choices. In addition, the FRP sculpture process is simple, can be formed once, so the economic effect is outstanding, especially for the complex shape designs, with prominent technological superiority.
2, FRP handicrafts have strong corrosion resistance, these fiberglass material are good corrosion resistance materials,as well as with strong thermal performance, good insulation material safe to use. Under certain high temperature, fiberglass materials have thermal protection and corrosion resistance functions, which can play a very good effect into actual fabrication and use.
3, Compared with advanced alloy steel, FRP has tensile, bending and compression strength more than 400 Mpa, which is a good corrosion resistance material towards atmosphere, water and general concentration of acid, alkali, salt as well as a variety of oil and solvents, has been applied to all aspects of chemical anti-corrosion scenarios, replacing carbon steel, stainless steel, so, glass steel sculpture is more commonly used in many places.
The disadvantages and solutions
1. The elastic modulus of FRP handicraft is twice larger than that of wood, but 10 times smaller than that of steel, so it is often insufficient in the product structure and easy to deform. So it can be made into thin shell structure, or sandwich structure, or can be made up by high modulus fiber or reinforcement.
Generally, it can not be used at high temperature for a long time. The strength of FRP sculpture above 50℃ decreases significantly, generally only used below 100℃; the strength of FRP sculpture is above 60℃. However, high temperature resistant resin can be replaced, so that long-term working temperature between 200~300℃ is possible.
2, aging phenomenon is a common defect of plastic, FRP sculpture is no exception. Ultraviolet light, wind, sand, rain, snow, chemical media, mechanical stress and others may lead to performance decline. The interlayer bond force can be improved by using the coupling agent. The most important thing is to avoid the interlayer shear as far as possible in the product design.
